Day-by-day itinerary
You will arrive in Arequipa and check-in in at your hotel.
In the afternoon, you will take a walk through the White City’s historical landmarks, such as the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, beautiful colonial houses, the Santa Catalina monastery, and the popular Yanahuara viewpoint.
In the afternoon, you will appreciate ancestral fiber classification and traditional weaving techniques on a visit to the interesting Museum of textile machinery. For dinner, you will enjoy a fantastic tasting menu and pairing experience called “Arequipa’s Monarchy,” in which the chef uses only native ingredients. Fantastic pairing experience.
Your exploration of Arequipa will start with hands-on experience in the city's main market. You will then meet a “picantera”, a local traditional cook, who will teach you how to prepare some of Arequipa’s most cherished dishes and drinks.
You will leave Arequipa early in the morning and head for the Colca Canyon. On the way, just outside the city of Arequipa, you will visit the Ashlar quarries, a volcanic stone with which many churches and colonial houses in the city are built.
After three and a half hour's ride through the Andean plateau, you will arrive at the quaint village of Chivay, in the Colca Valley. After lunch, you can relax by spending some time in the nearby hot springs.
The “Cruz del Condor” viewpoint is definitely the best place to see the magnificent Andean condor soaring over the deep canyon. After the viewpoint, our next stop will be an organic farm, where you will have a delicious brunch. You will then return to Arequipa where, after a few hours to rest, you will go out for a goodbye dinner in a charming restaurant that combines Andean ingredients and Alpine cuisine.
At the appropriate time, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to your next destination or back home.
