What do I need to know about the Inca Trail?

During the Inca empire, these roads were used by the ancients to reach the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. This path offers the possibility of finding innumerable constructions that combined with nature give you an integral vision of the greatness and importance that this route had.

What is the “Express” service?

Our version of the “Inca Trail Express” is for those who want to know this famous route, but cannot or are not willing to walk for 4 days in a row in mountains from 2100 to 4600 meters above sea level. This option allows you to live the adventure of the Inca Trail in less time and intensity since only the last section is covered, but without omitting the most impressive views of the trip.

The hike begins in Chachabamba (Km 104 of the railroad), where we briefly explore the enchanting ruins in a pine forest setting. Then we will ascend to the Ruins of Wiñay Wayna (“Forever Young”), a very important Inca spiritual place. and we will make our impressive descent to Machu Picchu to finally reach Intipunku, the door of the sun from where the path descends downhill. The classic view towards the lost citadel located right on the Urubamba River will be a unique and unforgettable experience; without a doubt, a very exquisite way to see Machu Picchu for the first time. We will spend a relaxing night in a hotel in the town and the next day, after a guided visit to the majestic citadel, we will return to the city of Cusco or the Sacred Valley.

What are the COVid-19 protocols?

Access to people is currently being regulated, allowing only 50% of the regular capacity of the Inca Trail in Cusco. For our part, we operate these groups privately to maintain social bubbles and social distancing. In addition, as recommended by the Peruvian authorities, we apply temperature controls and respect the use of the mask at all times.
